Gruyère Rooms

The situation of the house is perfect for visiting the village. The room was clean and bed is comfortable, there are two windows which has the views of the town, downstairs of the rooms is the restaurant, where offer excellent breakfast. The staff were friendly.

This place is right in the middle of the medieval village of Gruyeres, with shops, restaurants and museums within no more than 5 minute walking distance. It has a store right underneath and a restaurant, Gruyeres Traditions, wall-to-wall where if you go to eat you get a 10% discount off your bill. We stayed on the second floor in the room facing the inner square. We had a gorgeous view of one of the gates (the one close to the restaurant and hotel Les Remparts) and the water fountain. The room was quite large, with a desk, double bed, single bed and open bathroom with sink, toilet and bathtub. The bathroom can have privacy if you draw the 2 curtains hanging in front of it but this will not keep the sound away. Oh, and sound travels through the air shaft so you might hear other people. The bathtub was huge-wide and deep, could easily fit 2 people in it. You just need to be careful when you shower because even though they have tiles on the floor and on the wall around it, it is all on wooden structure and water may infiltrate. We had towels and soap both at the sink and bathtub, plenty of toilet paper and a hair-dryer. The whole room was quite clean, the only thing that caught my eye was the side of the curtains from the bath facing the inside of the bath-had some stains. One important thing to keep in mind is that this building is, I guess, an old wooden structure, all of it. So when you go up the stairs they squeak, when you more around the room it all squeaks, the bed squeaks. When a heavier person walks above, you hear as if a rhinoceros is moving above you. As with regards to having intimate relations in that place...you either do not care that others hear everything, or that you might hear everything others do, or you just try to be as silent as a mouse and pray your neighbours will be too...Even though we stayed just 1 day and 2 nights, they came and made our beds. The lady who gave us the key was really nice, could speak to us in English. In case you arrive after 6PM you should let her know in advance so she could leave the key and instructions at the restaurant. When you leave, you just lock the room and leave the key in the post box on the hallway (it is written on it).

Gruyeres is beautiful village and Gruyeres Rooms is located right in the centre. The village itself is only open to cars at certain times but there is plenty of reasonably priced parking near by and the fact that it is mostly free of cars adds to its charm. The hotel rooms are above a shop which sells souvenirs and also where you can see Gruyere cheese being made. You will get a 10% discount on anything bought in the shop. We booked 2 rooms, an economy double and economy triple which were both in the attic. Don't be put off by the word economy or the fact that the only windows are skylights. Both rooms were exceptionally clean and the triple in particular very bright. Ok, so you don't get a view but as soon as you step out of the door you are in the thick of the village so it really didn't matter. The bathrooms were both large and had lovely powerful showers. The double was a good size and the bed, although very firm, was comfortable, and the bedding was of very good quality. The triple room was extremely spacious with the same quality of beds and bedding. There is no air conditioning, but the fans provided are very good, and even on a hot weekend, we were kept cool overnight and slept well. We missed having a full-length mirror and a safe in the room, and the bed corners do stick out a little, but apart from that, the rooms were great. It is an old wooden building and the stairs are noisy! But we didn't get disturbed by them at all overnight. You will just sound like a herd of elephants going up and down them! There is a slight smell of cheese in the stairwell (which will just make you want a fondue!) But the rooms smell lush, so clean and fresh. We had breakfast at their partner restaurant Gruyeres Traditions (also with 10% off), which was a good continental. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend this hotel and the town of Gruyeres which is a delight!

L’hôtel est au coeur du village. Attendez 18h pour récupérer vos bagages et pouvoir approcher au plus près de la rue principale. Le parking 3 est vraiment en bas de la colline. L’hotel dispose d’un ascenseur Le personnel est sympa La literie est très bien bien

Wij arriveerden per trein in Gruyères en dan brengt de bus je in de buurt van de hoofdstraat van dit kleine maar mooie plaatsje. Vervolgens loop je een stukje steil met je koffer over de kinderkopjes naar het hotel, dat is iets om rekening mee te houden. Maar de Gruyères Rooms zelf zijn prima. Aardig ontvangen en mooie grote kamer aan de achterzijde (wel koffers drie trappen op). Het balkon gaf uitzicht over de bergen en we hadden de beschikking over twee 2-persoonsbedden. Weet niet hoe dat in de andere kamers is. Gezellige Zwitserse inrichting. Het ontbijt is goed, maar je moet wel tevoren reserveren in het restaurant dat bij het hotel hoort. We aten ook in het bijbehorende restaurant en bezochten de winkel waar ook een demonstratie is van hun eigen kaasmakerij. Mooi plaatsje met kasteel, overdag vergeven van de toeristen maar 's avonds is het veel rustiger. Ook Moleson is een bezoek waard.

Logement dans un studio numéro 3 avec une vue magnifique sur les montagnes. Personnelles très gentil. Logement propre. Nous avons pas pris le petit déjeuner sur place mais c'est possible 16€ par personne. Parking a 200 mètres payent de 8h a 18 h. 2€ l'heure.
